Stanleyville Trail - Gros Morne National Park, Parks Canada

Lomond

Jan 1 - Dec 31

This 4-km return trail follows a historic path to the shores of Paynes Cove and the abandoned community of Stanleyville, a small logging town of the early 1900s. Your hike brings you through boreal forest to emerge in a quiet cove of grassy fields and pebbly beach. Enjoy a picnic or explore the cove. Old machinery and garden plants are still found today, although Stanleyville has been deserted for more than 80 years. Trail starts in Lomond Campground. Book ahead for primitive camping.
