Things To Do

Whether you like to plan in advance or just go with the flow, you'll never run out of things to do here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Wildlife? Check. History? Of course. Amazing vistas? In spades. And culture? We speak more dialects of English than the English do. But perhaps the best thing to do when you visit here is absolutely nothing at all. Except maybe to relax and breathe deeply, filling your lungs with (copious amounts of) fresh clean air that’s been filtered and flavoured by the 16-million square miles of Atlantic Ocean at your feet.

A whale breaches the ocean surface at sunset, with water spraying around its body. The golden light highlights the whale against the dark sea and sky, creating a dramatic and serene scene.
Experience
Nature

The natural environment in Newfoundland and Labrador is an endless bounty of interesting and inspiring things to do. Imagine a day out on the water, surrounded by breaching humpbacks, thousands of seabirds, and majestic mountains of ancient ice. Or picture yourself hiking along some of the 29,000 kilometres of coastline, breathing the clean fresh air, and soaking up the beauty and peace of your surroundings.
So much of Newfoundland and Labrador is untouched and unspoiled, just waiting for you to experience it.

Experience
Adventure

Newfoundland and Labrador is an adventurer’s paradise. Teeming with spectacular scenery, outdoor space, and more than enough breathing room, it’s the perfect place to explore and discover your inner thrill-seeker. The best part? It doesn’t matter when you visit, because outdoor experiences are available all year long.
Why not kayak along our 29,000 kilometres of pristine coastline, or take a raft down the mighty Exploits River? You might even cast a line and try your luck with an abundance of trophy fish.
For more off-the-beaten-path adventures, suspend yourself high over a gorge in Steady Brook, or get a birds-eye view of the coastline in Petty Harbour. Get yourself a bike, and journey out on roads and trails, or take it off-road with some mountain biking.
During the winter months, hop on a snowmobile and ride into the backcountry or along 5,000 kilometres of pristine, groomed trails. And with 16 feet of annual snowfall, there’s always an opportunity to hit the slopes on skis or a snowboard.
With so much to see and do, and a variety of provincial and national parks, there’s an outdoor activity to suit everyone.
