Plan & Book

Just about everyone loves a twack around the shops. Stopping in any place that catches your eye, maybe having a chat or even a cup of tea with the proprietor, and coming home with an unexpected treasure can be a great way to spend the afternoon. Take a stroll down the main road of any community in Newfoundland and Labrador and you’re bound to find something that’s one of a kind.

We've spent the last 500 years or so making arts and crafts that show off our sense of humour and off-kilter character. There’s knitwear and clothing; hooked rugs and quilts; bowls, sculptures and carvings made from local trees, or from stone like Labradorite – a fascinating mineral rarely found outside our province.

As for paintings and other fine art, you’d be hard-pressed not to find something you like. Alongside the dozens of galleries throughout the province, you can discover amazing creations at artist’s residences, out-of-the-way shops, and private homes – all of them bursting with lively colour.
