Our Favourite Fall Imagery of 2024

Fall in Newfoundland and Labrador is a colourful delight, from our changing leaves to our moody sunsets and jellybean rowhouses. Around every corner you’re sure to find a new and inspiring colour palette, hand-picked for you by mother nature, no less. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite fall content to showcase just how bright and beautiful visiting our province during these months can be.

No Better Place to Put your Feet Up

Kara O’Keefe is taking in the spectacular views from Dungeon Provincial Park near Bonavista. While unassuming at first glance, visitors are treated to breathtaking views inside this massive crater. It has two arches and can host some pretty amazing waves when the ocean surges in and out through them, showcasing the unbridled power of the sea.

A Visit from the Northern Lights

Our province is no stranger to incredible views of the Northern lights, a common sight in many parts of Labrador. Once in a while, when the conditions are just right, the island portion of our fine province gets in on the action and we’re treated to a spectacular showing of greens, purples and pinks dancing across our night sky. Steve Sheppard captured this stunning shot in Raleigh near the tip of the Great Northern Peninsula in late September.

Crisp Air, Calm Water

Alexander Briere and his friend Jacob decided there was no better time nor place to disconnect from it all than in Western Newfoundland this fall. They put paddle to water and indulged in the moment, and who could blame them? This picture tells the perfect story! This scene is a dream come true for the adventuring tourist.

Colours Well Worth the Wait

Josh Squires captured a great view from Recontre East in mid-October. These hills put on quite the performance when the trees turn all shades of orange and yellow. It’s a piece of art that thankfully shows up year after year.

A Sunset for the Ages

We’re in awe of this sunset view from the Long Range Traverse taken by @grosmornejulia. It overlooks Ten Mile Pond, located just below the cliffs of Gros Morne mountain.

An Evening in Quidi Vidi

There’s no better way to end your day than with a leisurely fall hike around our trails and foothills. Shivam Parmar captured this gorgeous sunset as the day was coming to a close, casting beautiful yellow tones over Quidi Vidi village.

Soft Light of Cape St. Mary’s

An early morning rise and a blanket of fog helped set the scene for Maggie Parisé as she visited the Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve. Thousands of seabirds call this place home, nesting in and around the mossy cliffs, but they don’t mind the occasional visitor.

Fire in the Skies

What do you get when you mix unbeatable coastline views with September sunsets? The most incredible fiery orange clouds your eyes have ever seen. Tom Cochrane showcases the best of the southwest coast with this capture near Cape Ray.

The Little Boxes of Battle Harbour

As fall evenings get shorter, there’s no better place to cozy up and settle in for the night than Battle Harbour. An island off the rugged coast of Labrador, this historic site gives visitors a taste of our province’s rich fishing heritage.
