Sir Richard Whitbourne National Historic Site Plaque

Sir Richard Whitbourne held the first court of Admiralty in the new world at Trinity in 1615 and wrote what is said to be the first book about Newfoundland in 1620 titled A Discourse and Discovery. He said that Trinity had " the best and largest Harbour in all the Land." The National Historic Sites and Monuments Board plaque is in recognition of him is located behind the Court House in Trinity on Garland Road.
