Bell Island Seaman's Memorial

Situated at Lance Cove Beach, this memorial was erected in 1995 to commemorate sailors killed nearby during torpedo attacks on iron ore carriers by U-boats in World War II. A new mural has been erected on site to honor the victims and the heroism of the people of Lance Cove. The Seaman's Memorial has three main parts. Behind the Memorial, there are four placards that give t he names of the vessels that were sunk during two separate attacks and their port of origin and the names of the deceased.
