The Bella Vista - Ready To Host Your Next Event

View Source Article

Best known for its late 70′s inception as Stanley’s Steamer, the Bella Vista has been in operation for over 55 years and has been the site of various functions and events. It has grown through many stages to become the well-known and loved Bella Vista and Stanley’ Pub we have today. I stopped by to take a look at their beautiful event space and hear a little of the history behind one of St. John’s oldest venues.

Back in the 1970′s, before George Street, there was Stanley’s Steamer. It was THE hot spot for locals looking to get their groove on. Jill Young remembers when she was a little girl – “dad (the owner) used to bring me in the evenings… sneak me up to the office, and I would peek through the door to watch while everyone danced, all dressed up.” Not much has changed since then, the gleaming dance floor still sits in the middle of the room and people still dance the night away, but they’ve since expanded their offerings to hosting eventsweddingsfundraisers, corporate parties… you name it, The Bella Vista has done it. “Whatever you want, this room is flexible. People like that the space is tiered, it lends itself to being cozy whether your group is large or small” says Jill.

The room has a stage, two bars (with the ability to set up a third), some AV capabilities and a full catering service on site. They have a decor to accommodate most corporate functions, business meetings, seminars, dinners, or formal banquets. What sets the Bella Vista apart from other venues is their ability to take care of every detail so you can focus on the business at hand.

The building houses A Taste Of Class catering and a full kitchen under the guidance of executive Red Seal Chef Ian Smith. Whether you’re looking for hors d’oeuvres or a full fine dining menu, Chef Smith will work with meeting planners to execute a fully customizable feast within an event’s budget. With today’s concerns over food allergies and restrictions, Jill says they will “bend over backwards to be as accommodating as we can – we will work to create a menu that works for every guest.”

The Bella Vista is located just a five minute drive from downtown St. John’s and can host groups of up to 280 for a sit down function, and up to 500 for a standing reception. General Manager Gary Hayes and Event Coordinator Cortney Williamson work tirelessly with their clients to ensure that the events are memorable and unique. It’s like having your very own event planners on call – they take care of the details so you can look after the bigger picture. Planning your next conference in St. John’s? The Bella Vista is your one stop shop to pull off a flawless event. With so much on your plate, you can breathe easy knowing the Bella Vista Events Room will meet your every need.
